Accessibility Statement

Inky, a brand operated by Total Ventures LLC, is designed to be accessible to everyone. We have implemented comprehensive accessibility features so readers of every age and ability — and the people reading with them — can create, read, and enjoy stories.

1. Screen Reader & Voice Control

Inky fully supports VoiceOver, Apple's screen reader. All interactive elements have descriptive labels and hints, navigation elements are announced, story content is fully accessible, and generation status is announced. Inky also supports Voice Control: all buttons and controls can be activated by voice, and text fields support dictation.

2. Larger Text (Dynamic Type)

Inky supports Dynamic Type and scales text to 200% or more. It respects the system text-size preference and adds in-app font-size controls (Small through Extra Large), with story text never scaling below a legible minimum.

3. Dark Interface & Reading Backgrounds

Inky supports system and manual dark mode and offers multiple reading backgrounds (Paper, Sepia, Gray, Night, True Black) for different lighting conditions, with optional automatic switching by time of day.

4. Color, Contrast & Differentiation

Inky uses shapes, icons, and text labels in addition to color, so no information depends on color alone. It uses high-contrast, adaptive semantic colors that meet contrast requirements in light and dark modes.

5. Reduced Motion

Inky respects the Reduce Motion preference and provides non-animated alternatives for page turns and transitions.

6. Read-Aloud & Reading Aids

Text-to-speech narration for all stories, with word-by-word highlighting for read-along learning.
Voice selection tuned per age band, with adjustable speed and optional auto-advance.
Dyslexia-friendly fonts (OpenDyslexic, Atkinson Hyperlegible), adjustable line spacing, and text-alignment options.
Minimum tap targets of 44×44 points, with clear, consistent navigation and announced loading and error states.

7. Standards & Compliance

Inky follows WCAG 2.1 Level AA for its web components and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility, and is tested with VoiceOver and other assistive technologies.
